GrillSummer Sizzlers

As the temperature starts to sizzle all over the country there are some amongst us that will be happy since they profess to like it hot.  My husband falls into that category.  There are others that the only thing they prefer to have hot is their food.  My mother belongs to that group. Making them both happy at feeding time, is where I fit into the scheme of things.

My husband likes his food hot.  That is hot by way of temperature.  I like to provide him with the opportunity to enjoy the sizzle of summer by giving him the chance to cook outdoor with some great grilling. Recently I set him up with some Mediterranean Lamb Kebabs. Since I had done the prep work all he had left to do was fire up and savor the sights, sounds, smells and sample of our teamwork.

Kebabs assembly is a team building activity that gives my children some ownership when they hear the sizzle of the grill.  I make sure to have the ingredients laid out for them along with their favorite aprons for inspiration.

When you tell my mother the food she is about to eat is hot she is hoping the heat being referred to has been generated by the spice in the recipe.  I know how to make her tongue sizzle. I simply add a spicy dipping sauce and the kebabs are a family friendly option for all to enjoy.

Grilled Jerk Chicken is also in our rotation for summer sizzlers.  It is hot enough with spice for my mother and gives my husband another chance to hear the snap crackle and pop soundtrack of the grill.  Serve the Grilled Jerk Chicken and the kebabs with Super Slaw and Buttermilk and Chive Griddle Cakes and you are sure to make you family and friends summertime dinners sizzle with excitement.
