Sweet
Treats for All of Your Sweethearts
February is a sweet month for me. I celebrate my anniversary,
my birthday, Valentine’s Day and my sister’s birthday
all within 28 days! It makes for a busy month.
In recent years, my anniversary has not involved a lot of fanfare
due to the fatigue and schedules associated with our three children.
I do manage to make a special meal for my husband in honor of
the day. More than likely that meal will end up being lunch for
two. Should be easy enough to pull off since the kids will be
at school, we can have the house to ourselves and babysitter is
already paid for! This year my plan is to make him some Rosemary
and Olive Scones* to accompany his favorite pasta dish and a salad.
Before I can bask in the afterglow of my anniversary celebration
Valentine’s Day and my birthday are upon as a double whammy
since they are in fact the same day! I often spend my special
day baking my own birthday cake and making goodies for my kids
to take to school to share with their class. Last year I made
Brownie Drops* that were enjoyed by classmates and teachers.
My sister Roslyn’s birthday is a week after mine so I like
to make her a little sweet treat since she is always so good to
me. She gets a big tin of Snowy Butter Cookies* to eat or share
as she pleases. I thinks she in fact hides them from her husband
to ensure that she gets to actually have some.
With all of that celebrating I need the last week in February
just to recuperate from the festivities and finish cleaning up
the kitchen!!
