Solution
Alas, it is the time of year that we vow to make all or the resolutions
that we somehow did not get around to keeping last year. Well
my family and I are no exceptions. We are kicking off the year
with resolutions of eating differently and incorporating more
exercise. Our vow is to make this our comeback year. We are making
it a priority to spend more of our meal times around the table.
Currently we have scheduling hurdles to overcome such as sports
team practices, civic meetings and weekend games.
Admittedly, we seem to fare better at sit down meals on the weekends.
This is such a difficult concept for me to swallow because when
I was growing up we had dinner at 6:30 nightly, when my father
got home from work. We had home-cooked meals prepared fresh and
served with heaping helpings of lively dinnertime conversation.
At the Wilcher’s Grand Central Station, we are in a perpetual
mad dash to cook, check homework, fold laundry and get to and
from evening activities all while struggling to maintain a reasonable
bedtime.
My resolution for this New Year involves proper planning and
making a commitment to sit down and ear together. My efforts will
be rewarded, by successfully bringing my family back to the table.
I plan to start with our weekend breakfast. Luckily my husband
is a great breakfast cook, so that can free me up to make Sunday
night dinner and the base items to be used during the week.
So that is my solution for eating differently. As for the exercise
component… if walking to and from the kitchen and laundry
room can be considered aerobic activity then I am in good shape!!!
