Authentic Homemade TortillasThe Versatile Tortilla for Any Meal

Homemade tortillas can be used to create a variety of dishes at any meal time! The taco, featured at right, is just one of the most popular uses in the United States for the versatile tortilla.

A staple in Mexico, the flour tortilla is made in homes daily and used as bread for every meal, filled or not. To use as bread Mexican-style at mealtime, place the flat tortilla on the dinner table and, with the palm of the hand, press down on the tortilla at the closest end, pushing forward to roll it up tightly. It can be eaten alone, or dipped into soups, salsa or chili.

Make a quick and satisfying lunch with slices of fruit, cheese puffs and a tortilla filled with sliced lunch meats, hamburger and/or veggies. Breakfast Burritos

 

For breakfast roll up some scrambled eggs with sausage or bacon; Serve with a dollop with salsa or sour cream. Sliced fresh fruit adds the finishing touch to the meal.

Try a fresh fruit salad in a baked tortilla bowl! Place a tortilla on top of an oven proof bowl to form its shape, then bake in the oven for 15 minutes at 375 degrees F., the same as for Taco Salad.
