A Great Slicing Cake for Summer - or not your Mother’s Bundt Cake
To me, summertime means let’s get out of the kitchen as soon as possible - or at least, do the baking earlier in the day. Even with central air conditioning, things heat up fast. But more than that, being outside to enjoy the weather is a call for informal baking, less clean-up (no one wants to spend a sunny day washing up too many dishes and bake ware), i.e. great treats one can perhaps, eat out of hand. Squares are perfect for this but I like cakes more often than not, especially for a summer BBQ summer dessert. With that in mind, I am sharing a few of our more popular cookies and a new addition to the repertoire, a lemon bar.. . . . read more . . .

A Crispy Tale
It has been said that history repeats itself. That is because every generation thinks that it is on to something... be it fashion, ideology or a cool food find!! But for those of us who have been around the block a few times we know that the story never changes ....only the characters do.
Chicken and waffles are a story that falls under the little-known black history category. Although it is impossible to confirm who originally came up with this pairing it has been rumored to date back to the kitchens of Thomas Jefferson. Jefferson spent time in France and upon his return brought home a device for making waffles.. . . read more . . .
