Garlic Cheddar Biscuits
Yields 12 Biscuits
2 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
1 tbsp. Clabber Girl Baking Powder
3/4 tsp. garlic powder (divided)
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. shortening
1 c. buttermilk
1 c. shredded cheddar cheese
2 tbsp. melted butter
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. In a medium bowl combine flour, Clabber Girl Baking Powder, garlic powder (only 1/2 tsp.) and salt. Using a pastry blender or 2 forks cut in shortening until mixture develops into a crumble. Add buttermilk, cheese, and stir until mixture forms into a soft dough. In 1/4 c. measurements; drop dough onto a greased cookie sheet. Add remaining 1/4 tsp. garlic powder to melted butter and brush biscuit tops.
Place biscuits into preheated oven and bake 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
