4 eggs, well beaten 1 lb. light brown sugar 1/2 cup shredded citron 1/2 cup chopped walnuts 3 1/2 cups sifted flour 2 teaspoons Rumford Baking Powder 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice Powdered sugar
Instructions:1. Add sugar gradually to beaten eggs, beating until smooth. 2. Add citron and chopped walnuts. 3. Sift flour, Rumford Baking Powder, cinnamon and allspice together and add to egg mixture gradually, stirring only enough to dampen flour. 4. Spread batter 1/2 inch thick in greased sheet pan (17 1/2" x 11 1/2" x 1") and bake in a moderate oven (350° F.) about 25 minutes. 5. Cut in squares while hot and before cold ice with powdered sugar blended with 2 tablespoons cold water. Makes 4 dozen squares.
