Swedish Meatballs


  • Meatballs:
  • 1/2 cup evaporated milk
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/2 teaspoon allspice
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 pound lean ground beef or ground round
  • 1 tablespoon cooking oil
  • Sauce:
  • 1 can beef broth
  • 3/4 cup evaporated milk
  • 1/2 cup cold water
  • 1 Tablespoon Clabber Girl Cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice


In a large bowl, combine milk, onion, bread crumbs, spices and meat. Mix well with hands. Shape into 1-inch balls.

In a large pan brown meatballs in oil.
Meanwhile, in a saucepan bring broth and milk to boil. In a cup mix together the cold water and Clabber Girl Cornstarch; add to broth mixture. Cook over medium heat, stirring until mixture is thick. Remove from heat and add lemon juice.

Drain fat from meatballs. Pour sauce over meatballs and simmer.
