My Dad's Maichel or Instant Egg Drop Soup
Serves 2
Ingredients:
- 1 packet instant chicken noodle soup
- water, as required
- 1-2 eggs, beaten lightly
Instructions:
Prepare soup as package indicates.
As it simmers, stir in beaten eggs until they set, in swirls throughout the soup.
You can garnish with this with minced scallions.

My dad used to make this on Sunday afternoons, usually watching New Year's football. It is three ingredients. I make this for my own sons and it still wins kudos. It requires a televised football game as backdrop flavoring.
