Beulahs Southern Biscuits


2 cups self-rising four 1/4 cup shortening enough buttermilk to make a soft dough


Sift flour into a bowl. Mix shortening into flour, add buttermilk a little at a time gently folding until you have a soft dough. If it gets sticky add a little more flour, turning till a soft ball is formed. Melt a half a stick of butter or margarine. Dip hands into butter, pinch off biscuits, shape and place in greased pan. Continue until all dough is formed into biscuits. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes. Remove from oven, brown under broiler until golden brown about 1 minute.
