Cherry Coffee Cake


8 tbsp. butter (1 stick)

1 c. sugar
2 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. Clabber Girl Baking Powder
1/2 tsp. Rumford Baking Soda

1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
1 c. sour cream
21 oz. cherry pie filling (1 can)

2 tbsp. butter (margarine)
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. walnuts or pecans (chopped)


Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Cake Preparation: Combine cake ingredients in order given. Combine to form dough. Once dough forms spread half of the dough in greased 9 X 13-inch pan. Pour the can cherry pie filling over dough base staying 1/2-inch from edges. Spread and place remainder of the dough on top of the pie filling to cover.

Topping Preparation: In medium bowl; combine all topping ingredients. Once topping forms, sprinkle mixture over cake dough in the pan. Bake for 45 minutes.
