Rex Roasting Co.
Rex Roasting Co. charged its first roast in November of 2009, and for the first time in 40 years, brought back the sights, smells and flavors of freshly roasted coffee to a building rich with coffee history.
In 1879, after being dissatisfied with the quality of the coffee that he was receiving for his grocery wholesale business, company founder Herman Hulman decided that he could roast higher quality coffee in house. Hulman traveled to the east coast to secure a green coffee bean supplier and roasting equipment. As a result of his trip, Hulman forged a business relationship with Jabez Burns & Sons, and returned to Terre Haute, to begin spice grinding and coffee roasting.
Rex Roasting Co. is an exhibition style, small batch artisan roastery built inside one of the country’s most storied family businesses. We continue this rich history by sourcing quality coffee and roasting with today’s best practices.
