Clabber Girl is pleased to announce the addition of a new columnist
to our website and e-newsletter. Karen Mitchell-Wilcher is celebrating
her 20th year in the food industry. She is a food consultant and
recipe developer. Karen has worked with Cooking Light, Weight
Watchers and Health magazines.
Karen’s new column, Rising to the Occasion: Tips for
Seasoning Your Meals with Soul, will celebrate and explore
recipes and customs that have come out of the African-American
culinary tradition. She will explain out how these traditions
emerged and have merged with the melting pot that is our American
cuisine.
Some of the topics you can expect to see in the coming months
include features on soups, stews, and chowders; regional American
cuisines such as the Gulf Coast and the South; the contributions
of African-American inventors to the food industry and recipes
using some of those innovations; and family reunion favorites
from the Mitchell-Wilcher family.
