- 9 c. all-purpose flour may substitute up to half of the all-purpose flour with whole wheat flour, whole wheat pastry flour or your choice of bleached o
- 1/3 c. Clabber Girl Baking Powder
- 1 tbsp. salt
- 1/4 c. granulated sugar
- 1 tsp. cream of tartar
- 2 c. shortening
- 1 c. butter
- 2/3 c. light brown sugar
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F; Pour 1/4 cup of water on 8 1/2 x 11 inch jelly roll pan to wet the surface thoroughly. Pour off water, leaving about a tablespoon of water (do this in order to keep the foil from sliding). Press a sheet of aluminum foil on pan, covering bottom and sides.
Combine Baking Mix and sugar. Cut in butter using a fork; pat onto the baking pan. Spread nuts evenly over top of dough. Pour caramel sauce over top of nuts, covering as much as possible.
Bake for 20-25 minutes.
Option: After rmoving from oven, sprinkle with chocolate chips while warm, spread when melted. Cool and cut into squares.
