Categories: Biscuits & Scones

Submitted by: Makes 12-16 biscuits

  • 2 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
  • Clabber Girl Baking Powder
  • 3/4 tsp. garlic powder divided
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. shortening
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 1 c. cheddar cheese shredded
  • 2 tbsp. butter melted

Preheat oven to 450 degrees F. Combine all ingredients and mix gently until dough just comes together. Place dough onto surface dusted with flour or Clabber Girl Baking Mix (to prevent sticking). Roll out to 1/2-inch thickness. Cut with a floured biscuit cutter and place on a greased baking sheet.

Bake for 12 to 14 minutes or until golden brown.

May also be made as drop biscuits. Follow recipe above, except do not roll out dough. Drop dough by spoonful onto greased baking sheet.
