Blonde Brownies

WARNING: Addictive! These brownies are soft and chewy and satisfy your sweet tooth.


  • 1 c. butter or margarine
  • 2 1/4 c. brown sugar packed
  • 4 lg. eggs
  • 2 1/2 c. sifted flour
  • 2 1/2 tsp. Clabber Girl Baking Powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. walnuts or pecans, chopped
  • Frosting (if desired)
  • lemon zest


Melt margarine in saucepan. Add brown sugar and blend well. Remove from heat and cool. Add eggs and dry ingredients. Add vanilla, chocolate chips and walnuts. Stir until combined.

Spread in greased 15x10x1 inch sheet pan.
Bake at 350 F for 30 to 35 minutes. Cool completely before frosting and cut into squares, then garnish with nut halves.
