If you are short on time and have a food processor, this recipe will give you a baker's dozen of fresh biscuits in less than 20 minutes. Perfect for weeknight meals, if you don't have buttermilk, substitute a cup of milk plus 1 tbsp. of vinegar. Let the milk and vinegar sit for at least 5 minutes so that it sours.

  • 2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp. Clabber Girl Baking Powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. Clabber Girl Baking Soda
  • 1/4 c. shortening
  • 1 c. buttermilk

Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.

Add flour, Clabber Girl Baking Powder, salt and Clabber Girl Baking Soda to assembled food processor. Process dry ingredients for a few seconds to mix. Add shortening and process until mixture resembles coarse crumbs, about 15-20 seconds. Add buttermilk and process just until dry ingredients are moistened.

Turn dough out of food processor bowl, onto floured surface. Turn dough just until no longer sticky. Do not knead. Pat or roll dough into 1/2-inch thickness. Cut biscuits with a floured biscuit cutter. Bake 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
