Hearth Club Biscuits

  • 2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 4 Tbsp. shortening
  • 2 tsp. Hearth Club Baking Powder
  • 2/3 c. milk


Preheat oven to 450 degrees F. Grease a baking sheet and set aside.

In a bowl stir together flour, salt and baking powder. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Add milk, stirring just until moistened and dough pulls away from sides of the bowl.

On a floured surface, knead dough about 10 to 20 times or until smooth. Pat or roll to 1/2-inch thickness and cut with biscuit cutter. Place biscuits 1/2-inch apart on greased baking sheet. Bake at 450 degrees F. for 12 - 15 minutes.

Yield: 8 to 10 biscuits.
