Make your own caramel candy at home! Perfect to give away at Halloween or during the holidays as gifts.

  • 1 c. granulated sugar
  • 3/4 c. half and half or evaporated milk
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 c. light corn syrup
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp. Clabber Girl Baking Soda

Prepare a 9x13-inch baking ban with cooking spray or line with wax paper. Combine sugar, corn syrup, half and half or evaporated milk and butter in a medium saucepan. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly to 250° F (very firm ball), or when a small amount of the mixture dropped in cold water will form a firm but not brittle ball.

Remove from heat. Add vanilla and baking soda, stirring only enough to blend. Pour to a depth of 3/4-inch in the baking pan. Cool; turn out of pan and cut into 3/4-inch squares. Wrap individually in wax paper or cellophane.
