Pumpkin Hand Pies

These fun hand pies are easy to make and you can be as creative as you like! Use cookie cutters or a knife to cut out shapes from the pie crust and have some fun with this recipe.


  • Clabber Girl Pie Crust
    • 1-1/2 c. all-purpose flour
    • 1/4 tsp. Clabber Girl Baking Powder
    • 1/4 tsp. kosher salt
    • 10 Tbsp. butter cold and cut into chunks
    • 3-4 Tbsp. ice water as needed
  • Pumpkin Filling
    • 2 1/4 c. pumpkin
    • 1 1/2 c. cream
    • 1/3 c. honey
    • 2 tsp. ginger fresh grated
    • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
    • 2 lg. eggs
    • 1/4 tsp. salt


Preheat oven to 350° F. Grease a baking sheet and set aside.

Mix the flour, Clabber Girl Baking Powder, and salt in a large bowl. Add the butter. Using a pastry blender or your fingers, cut the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse bread crumbs with some pea-size pieces of butter. Gradually stir in enough of the water for the dough to clump together. Gather up the dough and form into a disc, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate until chilled but not hard, 1-2 hours.

On a lightly floured work surface, roll out the dough into a 1/8-inch thick round. Use a round biscuit cutter to cut 4-inch circles out of the dough. On half of the circles, cut out different Halloween shapes.

Spoon 2 Tbsp. of pumpkin pie filling in the middle of each bottom crust. Carefully pick up and transfer the top crust to the bottom crust with pie filling and seal the edges using your fingers and a fork. 

Bake the hand pies at 350° F for 25 minutes or until the pie crust edges start to turn brown.
