Home Made Corn Dogs

If you enjoy this summer-time favorite, making your own corn dogs can be a lot of fun and so delicious!


  • 10 hot dogs
  • 10 wooden skewers (can also use popsicle sticks)
  • 2/3 c. yellow corn meal
  • 1/3 c. unbleached all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. Clabber Girl Baking Powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. cayenne
  • 1 1/2 tbsp. granulated sugar
  • 1 lg. eggs
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • cornmeal to roll the hot dogs in
  • oil to fry the corn dogs in


Mix all ingredients for batter in order with a whisk in large bowl. Insert skewers in hot dogs and roll in dry cornmeal. Heat oil in a large wok or cast iron skillet to about 375 degrees F.

Dip hot dogs in batter and place in heated oil. Fry a couple of corn dogs at a time until they are lightly browned. Drain on paper towels.
