This coffeecake is made in a Bundt pan and pairs well with Rex Coffee, available in our online store.

  • 3/4 c. brown sugar firmly packed
  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 3 lg. eggs
  • 3 c. all-purpose flour
  • 3 tsp. Clabber Girl Baking Powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. apple pie spice
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • Cinnamon Crumb Mixture
    • 1 c. brown sugar firmly packed
    • 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
    • 1 tsp. cinnamon
    • 1/4 c. butter
    • 1 c. Granny Smith apples cored, chopped, peeled (about 1 apple)

Preheat oven to 350 F. Grease and flour a tube pan or bundt pan.

Cake: Cream together sugar and butter. Add eggs one at a time, blending well after each addition. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt and apple pie spice; blend well and add to butter mixture alternately with buttermilk. Stir in vanilla. Batter will be thick.

Cinnamon Crumb Mixture: combine sugar, flour and cinnamon. Cut in butter until mixture is crumbly; stir in chopped apples.

To bake: Pour 1/2 of the cake batter into the prepared pan; pour 1/2 of the crumb mixture on top. Top with remaining cake batter followed by the balance of the crumb mixture.

Bake at 350 F for 60 minutes, until cake tests done. Cool 5 minutes in pan, then cool on a wire rack before serving.
