These Valentine's Day heart cookies are super sweet with only half the sugar of regular cookies.

  • 1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp. Clabber Girl Baking Powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1/4 c. sucralose
  • 8 tbsp. butter cold and cut into bits
  • 1 lg. eggs
  • 1 1/2 tbsp. milk as needed
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • Valentine‚Äôs Heart Cookies (Glaze)
    • milk for brushing
    • 3-4 tbsp. decorative red icing sugars

Preheat the oven to 350 F. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment or a silpat for easier cleanup.

Add the flour, Clabber Girl Baking Powder, salt, sugar and sucralose to the workbowl of a stand mixer. Mix briefly on low and add the butter. Mix until the butter breaks up and the dough looks sandy. All at once, add the egg, 1 tbsp of milk and the vanilla. Mix until the dough pulls together into a ball. Add a little more milk if necessary. Wrap the dough in plastic, flatten into a disc shape and refrigerate for an hour or overnight.

Cut the dough in half and roll out to between 1/4 and 1/8 inch thickness on a well floured cutting board. Use a heart shaped cookie cutter to cut the dough, and lift each cookie gently to the prepared baking sheets. Repeat with the remaining dough. Gently knead the scraps back together and repeat the rolling and cutting process (the scraps may need to be refrigerated again).

Brush each cookie with milk and sprinkle with icing sugar. Bake for about 15 to 18 minutes. Halfway through baking, rotate the cookies from top to bottom and front to back for even baking.
