Cheesy Beer Biscuits

These quick biscuits are best served within 30 minutes of baking and make the perfect accompaniment for soups and chilis.


  • 1 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 c. rolled quick oats
  • 2 tsp. Clabber Girl Baking Powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 c. shredded cheddar cheese or chili Jack or others you enjoy
  • 1/2 c. lager beer
  • 1/4 c. water
  • 1 tbsp. olive oil


Place an oven rack to the upper third section of the oven. Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.

Combine flour, oats, Clabber Girl Baking Powder, salt, cheese, and mix well. Add the beer and water and stir until a "wet" dough forms.

Grease the bottom of a 9-inch round cake pan with the oil. With a floured 1 1/2-inch ice cream scoop or spoon, scoop rounds of the batter and place around the edges of the pan.

Bake biscuits for 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown. Serve immediately as an accompaniment to the chili or split the biscuits and top with the chili.

Yields 10 biscuits.
