Pumpkin donuts are delicious any time of year! These are deep fried and coated in cinnamon sugar. An easy way to coat the donuts is to put semi-cool donuts into a plastic bag filled with a cup of cinnamon sugar. Shake the bag until the donut is coated and then remove.

  • 1/4 cup butter melted
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin canned
  • 2 eggs beaten
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 5 tsp Clabber Girl Baking Powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp ginger
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • powdered sugar to sprinkle on finished donuts
  • cinnamon sugar

Cream together butter and sugar; add pumpkin and beaten eggs; set aside. In a separate bowl, combine dry ingredients including spices. Add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, and mix until combined. Chill dough for at least 2 hours.

Roll out dough to about a 1/2 inch thickness. Cut with doughut cutter, and fry in oil for about 1 minute on each side.

Drain on paper towels, transfer to platter and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar. Makes about 3 dozen donuts.
