These biscuits have a great flavor of cheddar and parsley, and the cream cheese makes them very creamy tasting. Fresh parsley will taste best in this recipe, but if it isn't in season, substitute 2 tbsp of dried parsley.

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 4 tsp Clabber Girl Baking Powder
  • 3 oz cream cheese
  • 1/2 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup cheddar cheese grated
  • 1/4 cup parsley chopped, or 2 tbsp dried parsley

Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.

In a large bowl, stir together dry ingredients. With a pastry blender, cut in butter and cream cheese until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add broth, parsley and cheddar cheese. Stir lightly with a fork to make a soft dough. Turn out on pastry sheet or floured board and knead gently about 10 times. Flatten with your hand to about 1/2-inch thickness. Cut into biscuits with biscuit cutter and place on ungreased baking sheet.

Bake at 450 degrees F. for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.
